INVERCARGILL CONTEST [bt TELEGRAPH —riIESS association] INVERCARGILL, Wednesday A challenge chopping contest for a stake of £SO between Cyril Hayes, the Otago champion, and Charles Harding, the Southland champion, was staged in the Civic Theatre to-night, Hayes winning each of the three events. Hayes won the two underhand chops fairly easily, his time for the 12in. log being 24 1-os and for the loin. log 43 4-os. He won the standing chop by a blow in 295, the log being a 12in. one.
