QUARRY ACCIDENT
RUNAWAY TRUCK WORKER FATALLY INJURED DEATH IN HOSPITAL Struck by a runaway truck yesterday afternoon, at the Hunua quarries, near Papakura, Mr. Percival William Piggott, single, aged 26, of Drury, suffered severe injuries to the head and shoulders and died in the Auckland Hospital late last night., An empty truck was being hauled up a ramp at the quarries when the tow rope broke, allowing the vehicle to run back down the slope at increasing speed. Mr. Piggott was working at the foot of the ramp with his back toward the oncoming truck and was struck with such force that he was thrown 10 yards. The injured man was attended by Dr. H. "barren Young, of Papakura, and sent to hospital in a St. John Ambulance.
