THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AN IMPROVED OUTLOOK A sharp rise in base metal shares and 111 all round inprovemeni in Australian industrials occurred 011 the Auckland >tock Exchange yesterday in sympathy with the stronger tone overseas. Greater confidence was generally apparent and reluctance to accept the upward movement, in metal issues particularly, was quickly overcome. Banks failed to receive any help from the brighter outlook and prices continued to show a decline. Industrial sections of the market were active, particularly for the opening of the week. Leading Australians all took an upward turn with buyers more numerous. Broken Hill Proprietary and Colonial Sugars changed hands at better levels, while Electrolytic Zinc ordinaries were lifted 5s Od on the last business transacted less than a fortnight ago. Offers for more were renewed at 40s Od, while the preference issue was vainly sought at 46s 6d, a rise of 4s since Saturday. Holders asked 48s 6d. "Mail trading issues were not affected to a marked 'degree, although support tended firmer. Taranaki OUs were a shade easier.
