BEAUTIFYING HAMILTON

SOCIETY'S WORK REVIEWED DIFFICULTY OF FINANCE [from our owx correspondent] HAMILTON. Thursday "In spite of the lack of adequate funds to undertake successfully the task of caring for Hamilton's many beauty spots the society has during the past year maintained its parks and plots in fair order," stated the annual report of the Hamilton Beautifying Society, presented at the annual meeting to-night. The society had accomplished a great deal of work in its programme of beautifying Hamilton. The society had now reached the stage, however, at which the maintenance of the works in hand cost more than the subsidy received from the Borough Council and the undertaking of new work was impossible unless the subsidy was increased. • "During the coming year we should make every endeavour to secure numerous tree seedlings, so that we can assist in a comprehensive scheme of tree planting in the Centennial year," the report concluded.
