Speed Model for Auckland Rider

Interest attaches to the purchase by Jack Dale, of Auckland, well-known racing and trials rider, of a 500 c.c. Gold Star B.S.A. racing model. The machine, which is claimed to be capable of exceeding 110 miles an hour, is a welcome addition to fleet of fast models, and its performances will be watched closely by followers of the sport. The machine is unusual by reason of its light weight, the extensive use of lighter alloys having made it possible to save 781b. compared with the corresponding touring model. The B.S.A. is not a cheap machine, but, being capable of use either on road or track, is one that will be given plenty of use.

One of the keenest motor-cyclists in Auckland, Jack .Dale, has many fine performances to his credit. He set a lap record in the New Zealand T.T. last year, and in 1936 won the New Zealand beach championship and gained a Gold Star for an average of 108.44 miles an hour. His fastest run, 116.88 miles an hour, although not a record, as it was in one direction onty, is the fastest yet recorded in New Zealand. A Rudge was used for this performance.
