VISIT TO HOLLYWOOD
DAMAGE IN THE FLOOD Returning to her home in Wellington after a four months' holiday in the United States Miss Nell Kendall arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Marisposa, leaving last evening for the South, In the course of her American tour Miss Kendall spent some tinie in Los Angeles and Hollywood and was still visiting the film colony when the recent heavy < floods occurred. Miss Kendall described the flood as both happening and subsiding with remarkable suddenness. In the streets the water was about two and a-half fe<jt deep while the damage to the private homes of the film actors and actresses was considerable. When Miss Kendall visited Beverley Hills the day after the flood she found great canyons full of debris and some of the famous homes considerably damaged. c While in Hollywood Miss Kendall visited Charlie Chaplin's huge estate, the Beverley Hills home of Harold Llo.vd complete with coif links and swimmijig pool, "Pickfair," and Miriam Hopkins' home on the highest point of Beverley Hills.
