EDEN PAHK FIXTURE ALL-ENGLAND LADIES' TEAM MATCH WITH AUCKLAND ELEVEN outstanding hockey match is anticipated at Eden Park to-day, when the English ladies' team will meet tho Auckland provincial women's representatives in the curtain-raiser to the main llugby fixture. The English side opened its New Zealand tour last Thursday by decisively defeating a Waipa eleven, that conditions were far from favourable on that occasion, a brilliant display was given by tho tourj n g team. Spectators should be treated to a thrilling contest ■when this com6iri*tion takes the field this afternoon. . |he visiting side is fairly representative of England, whose team last year *on all international engagements, defeating Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Holland. The side beat the Rest of England hy 1 goal to 0 just prior to leaying oft the tour. The captain, Miss M. M. has. led England for the last six T«»i# *nd has represented her country for 13 years. The vice-captain, Miss M. 0. 'Collins, has played in international games for four years. Miss J. L. Q'ttonoghue, who plays at inside-left, is another member of the side who has a fine reputation. Friday A telegram from the New Zealand Hockey Association, offering a match with the touring Indian hockey team on August 22 was reMired at a meeting of the management committee of the Fiako Association. A contribution of £SO was required, plus board for the f«m while in the district. The match .will probably be played at Te Aroha. The rearranged itinerary of the tonr is as follows: —August 20..
