WAIKATO AERODROME
LOCAL BODY CONTROL OFFER MADE BY OWNER [from OUR OWN' correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday /'ln my opinion Hamilton and the district are deserving of a publicly-con-trolled aerodrome," said the Mayor, Mr. H. D. Caro, at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council in committee last evening. Mr. C. B. Smith, the j owner of the Waikato aerodrome at Rukuhia, submitted a scheme by which the area should be transferred to an aviation authority representative of the local bodies of the district. Mr. Smith said he was prepared to hand over the ground, buildings and plant, not including the aeroplanes, at cost prico. He added that the Waikato Aero Club was still agitating for Government recognition, and it was hoped that this would be given soon. It was finally decided, on the motion of the Mayor, that a committee consisting of Messrs. J. It. Fow, T. G. Reynolds and H. M. Hammond should confer with the Waikato and Waijpa Counts' Councils and the Cambridge, Te Awnmutu and Ngaruawahia Borough Councils with a view to ascertaining their views on the project. j
