TOWN HALL PROPOSAL

SCHEME FOR HAMILTON COMMITTEE TO REPORT • [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A scheme for the erection of a town hall for Hamilton to mark the New Zealand centennial celebrations was discussed at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr. H. D. Caro, said a hall could be erected in Garden Place. Accommodation could be provided for from 800 to 1000 people. Mr. I?. McCaw suggested that Boyes Park, as the centre of the borough, would be a more suitable site. There: would be room there for an imposing building. _ _ Mr. J. It. Fow and Mr. T. G. Reynolds suggested that the expenditure to meet Hamilton's present needs and those of the immediate future should not exceed £20,000. After other members of the commit-; tee had expressed their views, Messrs. E. Eindlay, T. G. Reynolds, R. Mc-j Caw and C. Croall were appointed to, prepare a report on the project.
