This figure is well above the' previous "best takings for an Auckland-Waikato fixture of 4440, which was taken at the gate in 1934. Gate takings for tho match in Hamilton between the Springboks and the combined Waikato-King Country-Thames Valley fifteen last year was over £IOOO, but charges on that occasion were greater than yesterday's admission prices.
