THE NATIVE CATFISH
native catfish, which is no more like a cat than a dogfish is like a dog, except that it has antennae or feelers remotely suggesting whiskers, is said to provide even better sport than trout. It is dark in colour and somewhat resembles a brown trout. A Papakura angler, Mr. H. Scully, hfis caught several in the Mangatawhiri and Whungnmarino Streams, near Mercer, during the past season. The largest weighed about Gib. Another of about 21b. he lias in his private aquarium. Mr. Scully says they are strong fighters and provide thrills in plenty for the angler.
