HIGH-SPEED FLIGHT

DUNEDIN TO AUCKLAND AMBULANCE MACHINE'S TRIP An average ground-speed of 167 miles an hour was maintained by the Auckland Aero Club's Beechcraft machine in the course of a fast flight from Dunedin to Auckland on Friday. The flying time for the journey was 4h 15m. Flown by the club's chief instructor, Flight-Lieutenant D. M. Allan, the Beechcraft, which is a cabin biplane specially fitted for use as an aerial ambulance, took a patient from Rotorua to Dunedin on Thursday. On the return journey Mr. Allan flew solo. The trip from Dunedin to Blenheim, where the pilot called to report before crossing Cook Strait, was made in 111 55m, and the Beechcraft flow from Blenheim to Mangcre in 2h 20m.
