ROAD MAINTENANCE
FRANKLIN COUNTY PROBLEM [from ouk own correspondent] BUKJ3KOHE, TMirsday The difficulty c?f maintaining loose metal roads where there was a heavy volume of motor traffic was commented on in the engineer's report presented at yesterday's meeting of the Franklin County Council. The engineer, Mr. A. C. Bettany, said that certain roa!ds in the county under present maintenance methods would become so rough that it would bo necessary to scarify and reshape tlieni in a few year's time. If sealing Was done, yearly maintenance costs would be reduced "by about £SO per mile. The chairman, Mr. J. N. Massoy, said that when the council framed estimates for the year, consideration would have to bo given to provision for the sealing of some of the roada.
