BRADMAN'S AGGREGATE
APPROACHING 1000 RUNS HASSETT NEAREST RIVAL The Australian champion batsman, p. G. Bradman, seems certain to secure his 1000 runs in England before the end of May. His total runs to date are 731 for four innings, giving him an average of 182.75. His scores arc as follows: 258 v. A\ oi coster; 58 v. Oxford; 137 v. Cambridge; 278 v. M.C.C. As the Australians, have four more matches to'-play before the end of May, Bradman should not experience any difficulty in reaching the four-figure mark. Bradman's nearest rival in the Australian side is A. i. .Hassett, who has also had a remarkable sequence of scores since the start of the tour. Hassett has an aggregate of 614 runs at an average of 15*1.50, his individual wo res being as follows: —43 v. Worcester; 146 v. Oxford; 148 v. Leicester; 220 not out v. Cambridge; 57 v. M.C.C. The Australians have scored 12 centuries to date, and have had only one registered against them. The New Zealander, C. S. Dempster, the present captain of Leicester, is the only player to reach three figures against the visitors. Buadman has scored two double centuries and one century, while Hassett has one double century and two centuries to his credit. Fingleton and Badcock have each compiled two threefigure scores.
