POINT CHEVALIER BRANCH The annual meeting of the Point Chevalier banch of the Mothers' Union was held in the Church of the Ascension vestry after a devotional service in the church. Reports showed a most satisfactory year and a sound financial position. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. Rattray; honorary secretary, Mrs. Howarth; treasurer and elected * delegate to council, Mrs. Hooper. , The following resolution was passed: "This meeting of members of the Point Chevalier branch of the Mothers' Union solemnly protests, in the name of Christian democracy, against the expressed intention of the Minister, of Education to terminate the daily voluntary religious exercises in the State primary schools of the Dominion, in opposition to the clearly expressed wishes of the great majority of parents of the children concerned."
