Johnson went close to landing a stable double in the principal flat events on both days of the Egmont Racing Club's winter meeting at Hawera last week. On the first day he was second in the Hawera Handicap and won the Mcßae Handicap with Ned Cuttle and on Saturday he won the Mokoia Handicap with Majority and was second in the Davidson Handicap with Ned Cuttle. It was a coincidence that when Majority was defeated on the first day be was beaten by Alunga, whoso trainer T. R. George, just missed a stable double when Ned Cuttle beat Boomerang. Majority is an improver who goes well in heavy going and should bo a good prospect for the winter meetings. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS "Inquirer," Kaeo. —Nightmarch is by Night Raid from Marsa and is not a* brother to Phar Lap, who was by Night Raid from Entreaty. Pillow Fight was by Night Raid from Week End.
