EPSOM TRACK WORK KAITAWA GOES IN SADDLE GUID HAIRST'S SOUND TASK x BY ABAYDOS With several liorses taking part in the show trotting events, there was not a great deal of fast work at Epsom on Saturday morning, when solid efforts were recorded by Kewpie s Crest, Bedford, Star Pronto, Guid Hairst, Kaitawa (in saddle) and Canadian. The dirt track was in good order, and horses worked the reverse way. Kaitawa (W. Willetts) beat Lumiiiat« (L. J. Mtthoney), over a mile in saddle. They were on terms at the half in 1.10, but Kaitawa scored decisively in 2.17 3-5. Quid Hairst (C. G. Smith) led Star Pronto (B. Dyer) to the mile in 2.25, but after' the latter had left his feet they passed the post on terms , in 3.32. Guid Hairst is in splendid condition. Kewpie's Crest (W. Gee) went away two lengths behind Bedford,(D. Smith), who led at the milo in 2.24, but they finished together in 3.31 2-5. .• ,• : Canadian (C. M. Morrison) trotted two miles in 4.50. He ran the last mile in 2.23, each quarter at an even rate. Vanora (L. J. Mahoney) was. not pressed to step a mile and a-quarter in 3.3, the last three furlongs showing 535. He should be in good shape for, tho Cambridge iheeting. Bingen Sun (W: Heed) trotted two miles at about a 2.30 rate. Great Surprise (L. Laver) trotted over a mile at a 2.36 rate, but improved to 2.24 in an extra four and a-half furlongs.
