LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR REFUSAL TO QUIT HOUSE DEFIANCE OF GOVERNMENT EDMONTON, May 3 Defying an order of the Social Credit Government of Alberta to vacate Government House, the LieutenantGovernor, the Hon. John Campbell Bowen, remained in the residence today in spite of the Government announcement that it would not pay for its further upkeep. Light, telephone and motor services have been ordered to be stopped. Mr. Bowen notified the Cabinet that Government House can only be vacated by an Order-in-Council signed by the Lieutenant-Governor, and that he has no intention of signing such an order. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet has been called for to-morrow.
