WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEES
PROGRESS WITH NEW AWARD PARTIAL AGREEMENT REACHED [BT TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, "Wednesday A partial agreement was reached in Conciliation Council proceedings at Wellington on the application of the soft goods section of the warehouse employees for a new award covering the Northern Wellington, Taranaki, Canterbury, Otago and Southland industrial districts. It was agreed that for the purposes of the award the term "warehouseman" should mean any worker, except storeman or packer, who is engaged in any capacity in connection with tho reception, display,, sale, despatch, or delivery of goods in or for the establishment of the employers bound by the award. Overtime is to be paid for at the rate of time and a-half for the first three hours, thereafter double rates. Jhe proportion of juniors to seniors in any warehouse or branch warehouse, it was agreed, should not exceed one junior to eacli senior.
