FIRE BRIGADE YEAR
WHANGAREI AFFAIRS EXTENSION OF AREA [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday At the annual meeting of the Whangarei Fire Board Mr. E. G. W. Tibbits was re-elected chairman. The financial position of the board, as reviewed in a statement presented by Mr. A. J. Wells, secretary, showed that at the end of the year a credit balance of £7O 12s 6d remained. The chairman was appointed to meet the Whangarei County Council and tha Kamo Town Board with a view to arranging for fire-figliting in the areas controlled by those bodies adjacent to. Whangarei and within easy reach by the board's equipment.
NEW ENGINE TO BE BOUGHT DECISION AT CAMBRIDGE [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Sunday The Cambridge Fire Board decided at its annual mee.ting to purchase a new fire engine fitted with a special "booster" pump. The cost will be about £BOO. • It was reported that no houses or 'business premises had been damaged by fire during the year under review. There had been only six calls to the brigade. Hie financial statement showed that the year commenced with a credit of £35 and concluded with a credit of £133.
