STOLEN CAR RECOVERED
SMART WORK BY POLICE OWNER UNAWARE OF THEFT , Smart work by the Otahuhu police on Saturday night resulted in a stolen motor-car being returned to the owner before ho was aware that it had been removed from its parking place in the Mr. R. S. H. Jackson, of 56 Grafton Road, City, parked his car in High Street shortly after 7 p.m. to attend a function in a near by hall. He was surprised when ho was called out about three hours later, and informed that his car had been taken and driven out to Otahuhu by two youths, who had been arrested by the police. Constable R. A. Archibald shortly before 9 p.m. heard the engine of a car being raced at unusual speed. His suspicions sroused, he stopped the car as it was being driven away by two youths. Following upon inquiries, they were taken into custody and the car restored to its owner.
One of the youths, who is under 17 years of age, will appear before, the Children's Court at Otahuhu to-day. The other youth, who is just over 17 years, will also bo charged with the conversion of the car.
