Ac-hiiies in the collision with the inter-Uland express steamer Rangatira on Thursday night was confined to the ship's propellers. A surrey of these and of the ship's hull tinder water has been made by her divers. The propellers project well out from the ship's sides aft and the starboard screw was damaged by contact with, the concrete piling of the wharf when the cruiser's stern swung in as she broke adrift. It has not definitely decided : whether the Achilles will be docked at Wellington. She may be able to pro- : ceed to Auckland without doing so.
