ELLERSLIE TRACK

SOUND SIX BY STEETTO

rereatu, royal APELLANT KNIGHT OF AUSTRALIA FIT KILONSA MOVES EVENLY A pleasing effort over six furlongs br Stretto, a sound seven furlongs by Rereatu and Royal Appellant, and a good mile by Knight of Australia were features of the work at Ellerslie yesterday. The course proper, 501't. out, was available for galloping and the going was fast. The presence of several visiting horses added interest to the proceedings. On the course proper Kilonsa IMoTavish) covered a round in 2.17, tho last seven furlongs in 1.34. She strode out well and was not asked to do her best at any part of the journey i Fiist Gold Money (Gilchrist) and Bronze Emerald (Murray), after taking 28s for the first two, completed five furlongs in 1.10 2-5. They finished on terms and were going well at the finish. Knight of Australia (Clifford), after running the first five furlongs in 1.4 4-5, completed a mile in 1.44 3-5 Bonnybelle (Tremain) joined him at the five furlongs but Knight of Australia finished strongly to be in front at the end. It was an attractive per- — formance, and Knight of Australia is very well. Hall-mile by Surella

Stretto (Green), after running the first furlong in 13 2-ss, finished well to complete six in 1.17. She was being kept up to her work at the finish but it was a good effort. Surella (Markwick) sprinted smartly over half a mile in 50 3-os, the last three furlongs in 395. Fleetwind (Gilchrist) finished slightly in front of Aero King (McTavish) at the end of six furlongs, the last five being run in 1.4 2-5. Bronze' Wing (Fearn) was not troubled to run five furlongs in 1.10 2-5. He looks improved. Llangollen (Clifford) traversed seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5 and.was going comfortably at the finish. She was still a little tender after working. Rereatu (Gilchrist) and Royal Appellant (Wiggins) were responsible for the best seven furlongs in 1.31 4-5. The first half-mile was run in 52 2-ss, and Rereatu, who was always in front, beat his companion by half a length. Royal Appellant was sore after cooling off. •Glenogil (McTavish) and Shy (Nicolson) finished together in front of Mai de Mer (Jones) and Te Hai (Manson) over six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. Glenogil and Shy finished well, while Te Hai was going comfortably. Silver Quex Improving

Ulimani (Stokes) strode over seven furlongs in 1.36 l-ss. Jack Tar (Atkins) hit out freely over six furlongs in 1.18 4-5, the last four in 535. King Silver (Clifford) was not troubled to run half a mile in 55 2-ss. Over the same ground Fidelis (Green) registered 51 3-ss. Alyth (Tremain), after beginning slowly, ran four in 54 l-ss. She was hitting out well at the finish.

The two-year-old Silver Quex (Gilchrist) reeled off three furlongs in 395. 6he has made improvement lately. On the No. 3 grass Kilberis (Trillo) worked over a round at three-quarter pace. Mundane (Tremain) covered five furlongs comfortably in 1.4, the first two taking 25 2-ss. Valmint (Murray) finished up strong work by sprinting the last three furlongs in 37 l-ss. Valmint, who is engaged on Monday, looks well. Master Musk Schooled

On the tan, High Star (Tremain) encompassed a round in 2.6 1-5. Ho looks well after his racing at Whangarei and is likely to compete over hurdles at Avondale. Master Musk (Turner) schooled over eight hurdles, but his jumping was inclined to be erratic. Tane Mahutu (Clarke) accompanied him over the first four and gave a promising display for a novice. Commencing at the sod wall at the top of the straight, Adsum (Smith), Count Rousillon (Turner) and Neil (Stokes) set out to do a round of the steeplechase course, but at the second of the double Neil's rider lost an iron and he was pulled up. Continuing on, Adsum soon established a big lead on Count Rousillon, which he maintained throughout. Count Rousillon, who was running down his fo/rces badly, unseated his rider at the second fence of the double the last time. When remounted he.cleared the remaining two safely. Adsum shaped satisfactorily, although he appeared to be tiring at the finish. Neil was sent out later and gave a good display over a round.
