SHIP DESERTERS
PENANG MEN IN COURT BOTH TO REJOIN VESSEL The two Finnish seamen who deserted from the barque Penang at Auckland on March 11, Leunart Waldoiner Ronnkvist, aged 21, and Svantc. William Waldemer Jokelainen, aged 20, appeared in the Police Court, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday. Tho charges of desertion against Iho men were read to tlieni by mi interpreter, and they entered pleas of guilty. Sub-Inspector Flanagau said tbo barque arrived at Auckland <>n Kelima rv 22, and when it was ready to sail on March 19 the accused were missing. They were arrested at Dargavillo on Sunday, but tbe ship was now in South Australia. However, arrangements had been made to send the men to Australia by tbe Mariposa on Thursday. Tho accused were remanded for a week, an order beinj; made that they bo placed on tho Mariposa.
