MORNING TEA PARTY
VICTORIA LEAGUE GIRLS EIGHT GUESTS OF HONOUR A combined morning-tea was given yesterday by members of the Everready Sub-committee and Young Contingent of the Victoria League. The party was given in honour of Miss Margaret Fraser, who is the first member of the Young Contingent in London to be sent to New Zealand. Other guests of honour were Mrs. Wooller, who will leave Auckland to live in Whangarei, Miss E. Entrican, who has just returned from a trip to England, Miss V. Bartlett, who will leave for England shortly, Miss Barbara Malfrov, a visitor from Wellington, and Miss Zoe Guthrie, Miss Louise Williamson and Miss Mavis Wallace, whose weddings will take place shortly. Mrs. L. S. Rickerby welcomed the guests, and bouquets of flowers were given to the visitors and cookery-books to the girls about to he married. Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, chairman of the Victoria League, was also present. The programme, which comprised songs by Mrs. H. England and recitations by .Miss J)oreen Saunders, was arranged bv Mrs. Humfrey Gordon. A brief account of pageants produced in England and on the Continent was given by Miss Fraser, who has been closelv connected with such productions 'ill England. The speaker said there were sometimes as manv as 5000 people in one pageant and that those of an historical nature were popular in England. In them most of the effects were produced by the music and the spectacular arrangements and there was very little dialogue. ■ The hostesses were: —Mrs. Rcstall, Mrs. H. Ward, Mrs. de Money, Mrs. Winstone, Miss Jessica Baxter, Miss Ruby Hard ley, Miss Margaret Parkinson and Miss Eileen .Thomson.
