WEDDING

WHEATLEY—FOWLDS The wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Mount Eden, on Saturday afternoon of Miss Janet Elizabeth Fowlds, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Fowlds, of Asquith Avenue, Mount Albert, to Mr. Sydney Ivan Wheatlev, only son of Mrs. A. J. Wheatlev, of Nottingham, England. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harold A. Sharp. The church had been charmingly decorated with autumn flowers, heath and fern, which made an effective setting for the bride and her attendants.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very graceful gown of honey coloured sou pie satin, the bodice cut with a double Peter Pan collar, sleeves full from the shoulder and tapering to a point over the wrists, and shirring on the back and front of the bodice. The skirt fell away into a lonp heart-shaped train finished with a cluster of orange blossom. From a wreath of orange blossom on her head fell a long tulle veil the colour of her gown, and she carried a sheaf of deep cream waterlilies and tuberoses.

The (iridesmaids were Miss Kitty McBeath and Miss Patricia Bailey, who wore frocks of primrose organza worked with sprays of blue flowers over taffetas slips. Made in period fashion, the puff sleeves were ornamented on the shoulders with butterfly bows and the skirts were very full and long. '1 be picture hats of the same material were trimmed with small posies of blue flowers and they carried sheafs of blue delphiniums and waterlilies. The best man was Mr, Brian Kitchener and the bride's brother, IWr. Matthew I'owlds, was groomsman. Ihe ushers at the church were Messrs. Irwin Bailey and Ralph Singleton. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the residence o£ the bride's grandmother, Lady Fowlds, in Belmont Avenue, Mount Albert, where the rooms had been charmingly arranged with a profusion of autumn flowers and foliage. Mrs. Fowlds received the guests in a frock of delphinium blue floral georgette, navy wool crepe redingote and navy hat. She carried a bouquet of red flowers. Lady Fowlds wore black satin and lace and a black hat; Mrs. Littlejohn, cornflower blue ensemble and hat to tone; Mrs. Bailey, black and white suit and black hat; Mrs. J. H. Siiumonds, navy blue costume.and toning hat; Mrs. H. D. Crump, wine coloured costume and hat to match; Mrs. H. E. Simmouds, black spotted satin dress and black hat; Mrs. John Stenson, black ensemble with black matching hat.
