VISIT TO ORCHARD

YACHTSMEN IN COURT , NO CONVICTION ENTERED ■ Charged with stealing a quantity of apples at Birkdale on March 8, four young yachtsmen, Harold Koosachef, Charles Beehre, Albert Pickettg; and: Eric Nisbett appeared in the Police;: Court yesterday before Mr. C. R. Orr Walker. S.M.

Sub-Inspector Flanagan said the young men had gone ashore from theif yacht and had picked apples in an orchard. They had frankly admitted the offence when questioned. Such offences were becoming too common, although it was not suggested that the defendants had done anything similar before.

"The fact that they have been brought Tip to Court will help to prevent other yachtsmen from committing this ojlence," said the magistrate, when an application was made for suppression of defendants' names. However, lie would not enter a conviction, and the case was dismissed on payment of 5s 3d costs by each defendant. » v
