PRACTICAL TRAINING SCHOOL ACQUISITION OF A PROPERTY [from ocr ow:c correspondent] MONTREAL. March 5 Purchase of a gold mine in Northern Quebec for use as a school of practical training for young miners has been announced by Mr. Onesiine Gagnon, Minister of Mines for Quebec Province. The newly-bought Gale Mine is in the Val d'Or area in Abitibi County, in the centre of a district rich in minerals. The Government announcement said it was equipped to begin the training of prospective miners almost at once. i One hundred students will be taken' ; on in groups of 12-month courses, the announcement said. The first group of applicants already has been ordered to report for medical examination, and will be sent to the mine shortly.The new school has a main shaft , of 2~oft. and 2500 ft. of underground I workings, drifts and crosscuts on two j levels. Other equipment consists or power plant. pumpi»f station, headframe and mine building, i Mr. Paul E. Gagnicr. mining e n " gineer. and Mr. A. P. Landry, formerly with the Nioissing mine at.
