EFFICIENT SERVICE [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Friday The chairman, Mr. J. J. Callaglian, made reference at .the annual meeting of the Waihi five brigade to the efficient manner in which tho brigado had coped with tho fire which destroyed the Academy Theatre recently, and had gravely threatened adjoining buildings, particularly tho Golden Cross Hotel. Tho main building of tho hotel, said Mr. Callnghan, had been alight five times, and the lire assessors had told him it was one of tho greatest saves in their experience. The question of improved water pressure was discussed, it boing pointed out that tho present 2in. mains were inadequate. Tho superintendent suggested tho purchase of an auxiliary pumping engine, and the meeting decided to draw the attention of the Borough Council to tho position.'
