University Carnegie Music Recitals

WEEKLY PROGRAMMES Toward the end of 1936 there arrived from the Carnegie Corporation, New York, the gil t of a large electric gramophone, 940 records, and 130 bound scores for the purpose of assisting the work of musical students at the Auckland University College. Last year gramophone recitals were a feature of the musical life of the college, and this year they are being continued by Professor H. Hollinrake under the same plan. Recitals are given each week m the college hall, between 12 and 12.30 P-' ll * on Mondays and Wednesdays, and between 5.30 and 0 p.m. on I ( ridays, and these are open to the public as well as to students. The two earlier recitals in the week are general in character, while on Friday records are played illustrating tho historical development of music from the 16th century.
