BEAUTIES OF HONGKONG

TRAVEL CLUB ADDRESSES

The honorary director, Mrs. Victor Macky, presided at the weekly morning tea of the Auckland Travel Club held in the Milne and Chovce Reception Hnll yesterday. Tho speaker was Mr. Stafford Solomon, from the Bahama Islands, who gave an interesting talk on the early history of the isalnds and described the progress made there up to the present time.

Dr. I. M. Stancliff, who has lived for some years in China, also addressed the meeting, and gave vivid impressions of the scenic beauties of Hongkong and of life there. Among the visitors were Bliss Helen Benbow, of • England, who is general secretary of the Too H League of Women Helpers, and two of the English publio school boys who are touring New Zealand, Mr. M. A. Whiteawfty and Mr. G. Lees. During the morning, Miss G. Mallabond and Miss Ruth Parker played a pianoforte duet. Floral shouldev sprays were presented by Mrs. Macky to Mrs. Stafford Solomon, Dr. Stancliff, Miss Mallaboiad and Miss Parker. Among the overseas and out-of-town guests were:—Captain and Mrs. B. A. Billington (England) Mrs. Robert and Miss B. Wilson (South Africa), Mrs. Harriet Johnston (Western Australia), Mrs. J, M. O'Brien (Adelaide), Miss G. Jack, Miss \Y. Stewart (Melbourne), Mrs. A. C. Reynolds (Hokitika), Mrs. Lan Grace (Martinborough), Mrs. H. Paul (Wanganui).
