CHARMING WEDDING
MACFARLANE—CUMMIN G BRIDE IN IVORY ROMAINE CEREMONY IN SCHOOL CHAPEL The marriage was celebrated at the Diocesan High School chapel last evening of Miss Marjorie Joan Gumming, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Gumming, Lucerne Road, Remuera, and Dr. Joseph Neil Macfarlane, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Carlile Macfarlane, of Napier. The - Rev. Canon R. L. Connolly officiated and the wedding music was played by Mr. Morton.
The chapel had been simply decorated with early autumn flowers in mauve and violet tonings.
A lovely gown of ivory sheer romaine brocaded in a small scroll design was worn by tho bride, who entered the churcli witli her father. Fashioned on princess lines, the corsage, with long sleeves and a V-shaped neckline, was softly shirred in the front. The skirt fell gracefully from a high waistline into a very long oval train, over which fell her veil of embroidered tulle forming a Becond train and worn with a head-dress of three rows of pearls caught at each side of the head with buds of orange blossom. She carried a trailing bouquet of cream water-lilies and begonias. ]four Bridesmaids In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss: Frances Gumming, Miss Joan Fox, Miss Amy McArthur and Miss Margaret Ward. They were dressed alike in picture frocks of pale mauve and violet stiffened net over deep violet taffetas. The sleeveless bodices were gathered at the waistlines and the full bouffant Bkirts fell in soft folds to the hem of the frocks. They wore waist-length veils of mauve net caught on the top of the head with three mauve astern, and carried flower fans of mauve ana violet asters. Tho bridegroom was attended by Dr. Macky Hercus as best man, and by Messrs. Douglas Gumming. Owen Woodhouse and William Robertson, as groomsmen. Acting as ushers at the church were Dr. Rowen Nicks, Dr. Peter Loten and Dr. F. Boyes Korkis. Reception and Dance Following the ceremony a reception and clance was held at tho Domain Tea Kiosk. Mrs. Cumming received her guests wearing a graceful frock of embossed georgette in tones of cherry, silver and saxe blue, and a close-fitting brimless hat of black sequinned cire ribbon. She carried a Houquet of rod roses and dahlias. Mrs. Macfarlane the bridegroom's mother, was in a draped frock of leaf brown angelskin lace and a small hat of matching brown net and ciro ribbon. Her bouquet was of autumn-toned dahlias and minalobato. Mrs.. E. Howe, aunt of the bride, wore a saxe blue lace frock and a small brimless black hat. Mrs. E. Butterfield (Wellington), aunt of the bride, was in coral georgette in blue toninas, and a matching close-fitting hat. Mrs. K. Kirk (Palmerston North), aunt of the bridegroom, floral moire taffetas in tones of cherry and saxe blue and a jimall cap of matching net and flower a.
"The bride* travelled in an Angora suit in clover toning, with a dark brown brimless felt hat, brown fox furs and brown accessories.
