SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME
Sir, —I would bo glad if some light could be thrown on the position of employees in receipt of between £3OO and £SOO per annum who have made private provision for the future, in relation to tho Government's Bocial security scheme. For instance, I am paying £sl 4s 2d per annum in contributions to life insurance, friendly nociety, national provident and my firm's provident and sick funds. I do not know what my income will be after I reach retiring age, but it seems that I will be required in future to pay the extra Government tax, my share of general taxation and the local body contributions toward hospital and charitable aid maintenance, but will be ineligible to secure any benefits under the Government's new social • security scheme. Would it bo wise for me to drop my contributions to some of the funds in which I am now interested ? There must be many others in a position similar to mine and any information on the points raised would be of general interest. Hamilton. \ Inquirer.
