DESERTION CHARGE
TWO SWEDISH SEAMEN REMAND TO AUCKLAND [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE, Friday Arrested at Aranga last evening by Constables F. Newland and S. Wells, two Swedish seamen appeared before Mr. B. Berry, J.P., in the Magistrate's Court this morning on a charge of deserting from the barque Penang at Auckland on March 11. The seamen, Lcnuart WaUlemar Bowkist, aged 23, and Svante William Waldemer Jokelainen, aged 19, were remanded to appear at Auckland on April 12.
