HOLY WEEK
PALM SUNDAY SERVICES SPECIAL PASSION MUSIC Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week, will be observed by most denominations to-morrow. The distinctive ceremony of the day in all Catholic and some Anglican cliurchos is the blessing and distribution of palms, followed by processions symbolising tho triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem before His passion. Auckland Anglican churches in which this old custom will bo observed tomorrow are St. Paul's, All Saints and St. Thomas'.
Passion music to be rendered at evening services includes Stainer's "Crucifixion" in St. David's Presbyterian Church, tho Baptist Tabernacle and tho Kingsland Methodist Church; "The Seven Last Words of Christ" (Dubois), in the Pitt Street Methodist Church; excerpts from "The Daughter of Jairus" (Stainer), in tho Beresford Street Congregational Church; "Olivet to Calvary" (Maundor), in St. James' Presbyterian Church; and "Via Crucis" (Iliffo), in Knox Church, Parnoll, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary .
Tho preacher in St. Patrick's Cathedral to-morrow evening and throughout Holy Week will bo the Very ltev. Owen F. Dudley, superior of tho Catholic Missionary Society, London.
