VALAMITO FIT

GALLOP WITH HIGH SEA POCKET VENUS SHOWS DASH PARQUET AND ROUND UP Some very interesting work was performed ut Takanini yesterday, when the inside gruss and the plough were both in lirst-elass order. A thick fog delayed the final.trials of the Ohinemuri candidates until 7.40 p.m., and, after that * hour, the weather became very hot.

Pocket Venus recorded the best four furlongs in 48 4-ss. Valamito, with High Sea as a companion, was responsible for another excellent trial over five furlongs in 1.0 4-5, and Parquet was just in front of Bound Up at the end of the fastest mile in 1.43. Prior to the fog lifting those noticed doing pace work were Anion, Hot Box, Vaals Star, Wykemist, Flood Tide, Grateful, Inver and Bachelor King.

Siega (G. Smith), Pamela (Collett) and Mia Aorea (Mudford) got away to a perfect start at the six-furlong post and ran home in 1.16 4-5, the first furlong taking 13s. They finished as named, with Siega just ahead of Pamela, and Mia Acrea a longth away. Valamito (Bart-ljp) and High Sea (G. Smith) were associated in a brilliant five furlongs in 1.0 4-5, • running the last three in 36 l-ss. Both were being kept going at the finish and Valamito was three-quarters of a length in front. If High Sea reproduces this gallop tomorrow he would be very difficult to beat. Arvakur anl Milaneon Huntsman's Chorus (Mudford) and Asset (T. Green) could have done better than the 51 2-5s they recorded over the last four of five furlongs.

Paddv the Rip (Collett) was going much better than Red -Ledger (G. Smith) at tho end of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, the final three furlongs taking 40 3-ss. Paddy the Rip should bo much improved the next time he supports silk.

Arvakur (Bartle) was going better than Milaneon (Mudford) at the conclusion of four furlongs in 49 l-ss, the last three in 375. Both were tiring over the concluding half-furlong. Parquet (Mudford), on the outside, Hound Up (T. Green) and Anagram (Curwen) were responsible for an evenly run mile in 1.43. They ran the first two furlongs in 265, four in 50 4-ss, and the last three in 40s. Although Parquet got about two lengths . the worst of the jump-off, she just got up in time to win the gallop by half a head from Bound TJp, with Anagram close up. Anagram should be dangerous in the Handicap Hurdles to-morrow. Brazilian (Mudford) jumped away at the six-furlong post and ran an even three in 365. He, is coming to hand very quickly. A Smart Hall-mile

Pocket Venus (Mudford). Solitary (Curwen) and Nordic Song (Hatweli) recorded the smart time of 48 4-5s for four furlongs, running the last three in 37 l-ss; Nordic Song jumped away about two lengths behind his companions and finished that distance away. Pocket Venus was a length in front of Solitary. Rajanya (A. Tinker) worked at an even pace over five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, taking 41 3-5s over the last three. He is showing improved condition.

Inquisitor (T. Green) went in his usual lazv fashion over the last three of four furlongs in 42 3-ss. Night Spi (A. Tinker) worked twice over four furlongs, the first time in 52s and the second tin 53 3-ss. On neither occasion was she doing her best. Poker Dice (Curwen) was smarter to jump away than Feldbcrc (Hatweli) at the start of a five-furlong gallop, which they ran in 1.2 3-5, the last three in 38 2-ss. Poker Dice was a length and a-half in front, but pulled up lame. The trouble may not be serious. Lapidarian Sprints Lapidarian (Hatweli) ran an even five furlongs in 1.2. taking 38 2-5s over the last three. Ho is improving in condition. Teak (Mcllroy) gave his usual good display over four flights of hurdles. Ho looks "like being a smart hurdler. On the plough, Flash By (Mcllroy) ran a mile in 1.53. taking 14s over the first furlong and 1.39 over the first seven. Takanini trainers will be represented at Paeroa by the following horses:— W. r l Wnsenti, Pocket Venus and Poker Dice; P. E. Pope. Solitary and Fcldberg; C. Morse, Parquet and Inquisitor; .T.
