QUEENSLAND PROPOSALS
PREMIER'S POLICY SPEECH
BRISBANE, March 10 the Premier of Queensland, Mr. ForIjan V Smith, in a policy speech said liabouir, if returned to power, would exempt from taxation for the Telief of. < unemployment all incomes up to £2OB »•' a year, reduce the tax on higher in-., ■ ■comes, and remove unnecessary burdens on income taxation. Tho Government would collaborate >rith the Commonwealth and the other State Governments to give effect to its objective of a 40-hour week, -with a maximum of 44 hours. He added that "employment was now '■ at the highest level ever recorded in Queensland, and, provided export prices -did not decrease, the. State would be better off than it had been for 12 years.
