REVERSE WAY ROUND KEWPIE'S TRIUMPH SPRINTS GOOD TEST FOR HUTT PARK BY ABAYDOS In view of the Thames Trotting Club's meeting on March 12, all work at Epsom yesterday was done the reverse way. The dirt track has recently been regraded but a thick cushion of dust rendered the footing dead. The best sprint efforts were those of Kewpie's Triumph 1.6 3-5, Kaitawa 1.7, Petite Jewel 1.8 2-5, Fisher and Forest Jewel 1.9 and Bismuth 1.9 2-5. Kewpie's Triumph (K. Bell) went away three seconds behind .Kaitawa (J. Gee) and just failed to reach him at the end of two miles, after going 4.40, Kaitawa made play .to the mile in 2.25, but Kewpie's Triumph had reduced the handicap as the mile and ahalf was passed in 3.35 4-5. Kaitawa hung on well when challenged to complete in 4.42 4-5. He has put on coiyUtion and will race at Thames. Kewpie's Triumph ran the last mile in 2.15, the half in 1.6 3-5. It was a good test for his Hutt Park engagements on Saturday and he will probably leave for Wellington this afternoon. Worthy Quest (G. H. Stubbs) accompanied early by Autumn Lu (H. Henderson) worked two miles unhoppled in 5.16, improving to 1.16 for the final section. Petite Jewel's Two Miles Frank Best (D. Cook) set off just ahead of Petite Jewel (J. Funnell) for two miles. At the mile in 2.28, the latter took charge, and won by a wide margin in 4.48, the last half in 1.8 2-5. He is in splendid order for his race at Thames. Frank Best did not go generously. Forest Jewel (L. Mitchell) covered a mile and a-half in 3.35, the last half in 1.9. Olax (G, Cole) was never at top while working a mile and a-half in 3.45, although she improved to register 1.12 3-5 for the last half. Olax has not raced for some time, but she is carrying a very bright appearance. Great Surprise (L. Laver) trotted a, mile and a-half comfortably at a 2.40 rate. He is a half-brother by Surprise Journey to Young Rodney. The Rey de Oro —Bingen Crest filly (D. Cook), unhoppled, gave a neat display over two circuits. She in a half-sister to Jewel Crest. Great Sonoma (L. Laver) went under restraint over two miles at a 2.35 gait. He has improved with racing and may go well with the pacers in the Turua Bracelet at Thames. Sound Two Miles Bismuth (H. Henderson) conceded Jewel Crest (W. Willetts) two seconds in two miles, to finish on terms in 4.45. Jewel Cresit maintained his advantage to the mile and a-half in 3.36 2-5. Bismuth made a spurt over the final quarter, running his last half in 1.9 2-5. He is still showing an enlarged knee. Jewel Crest, recording 4.47, gave a sound display, finishing on well to register 1.10 3-5 for the final half. Bedford (D. Smith) made light of a two miles task in 5.15. the last half, 1.16, being his best. He should race well at Thames, where lie ran a dea.dheat with Bronze Queen, and was second to Chili Bean at the spring meeting.

Hillcrest (D. 0. Jones), free-legged, worked a mile and a-half comfortably in 3.42, the last half in 1.12. The three-year-old hds benefited from last month's racing, and should strip lit at Thames, but he requires a firm track. Handicapper (G. H. Stubbs) was not extended while going two miles in 5.10. He should soon show a return to form.

! Fisher (A. Paten) conceded Dick Redwood (A. T. T*!ewdick) seven sec-, onds over a mile and a-half, to reach him at the finish in 3.36. Dick Redj wood was well clear at the mile in ! 2.30, but Fisher moved up over the j three furlongs, recording 1.9 for the half. Dick Redwood trotted his best to show 1.13. Mandalay (,D. 0. Jones) worked two miles unhoppled. Gold Circle (D. Smithy was allotted a similar task, i Don Walla (N. L. Craig) and a Blue Mountain King gelding (W.
