FASCISM IN JAPAN

ALLEGED INTRIGUES UPROAR IN THE DIET TOKIO, Feb. 20 Uproarious scenes occurred in the Diet when the Speaker, Mr. Koyama, was hit on the head. The trouble was caused by accusations of Fascist intrigues on the part of Japan's military chiefs. In recent months Fascism has become the paramount issue in the internal affairs of the nation. The Liberals realise that the Army and Navy chiefs and the "diehards" are working strongly to create a single party on Fascist lines. Members of the Diet accused the Minister of the Interior, Admiral Suetsugu, of political excesses. They alleged that the Fascist movement in Japan was becoming the fountain head of dictatorial despotism. They accused the Government of having instigated Fascist mob attacks on members of the anti-Fascist parties. Members of Parliament stormed through the Chamber and in the corridors. The session was suspended for 50 minutes.
