HIGHER WAGES WANTED
AUCKLAND TRAMWAYMEN ASSESSORS TO CONFER Advice that the Auckland Tramway Employees' Union intended to claim wages increases was received at a meeting of the Auckland Transport Board yesterday. It was decided that the board's assessors should meet the union representatives to discuss the matter. The union seeks an extra 'lid an hour and double rates for all work done on Sunday, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Anzac Day. At present the men ra.eive payment at the rate of time and a-half for work done on the days mentioned.
