GARDEN PLACE HILL
HAMILTON BOROUGH PLAIT LOAN PROPOSAL APPROVED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday Advice was received by the Hamilton Borough Council this evening that the Local Government Loans Board hid sanctioned the council's scheme for the raising of a loan of £77,500, subject to the approval of a poll of ratepayers, for the removal of Garden Place Mil. The term of the loan will be 33 years, and the rate of interest 3J per cent. Ratepayers within a prescribed area, roughly bounded by Hood, Anglesea and Bryce Streets, and the Wai-. kato River, will be entitled to vote on the proposal. The scheme involves the purchase certain private properties o£ the hill, the removal of the hill, the Jajang oat of the levelled area in streets and footpaths, and the erection of conveniences. A previous proposal for a more comprehensive scheme respecting the hill was submitted to the whole of the ratepayers of the borough and was rejected. '' r-«•. • •.
