GARDEN PARTY
GREY LYNN FUNCTION METHODIST LADIES' GUILD Under the auspices of the Great North Road Methodist Ladies' Guild, assisted by the executive of the Auckland Fellowship of Methodist Women, a successful garden party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Newton, Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, yesterday afternoon. The opening ceremony was performed by Lady Wilson, who was welcomed by the Rev. F. J. Handy and presented witli a shoulder spray by the guild president, Mrs. P. M. Wiggins. Mrs. Wiggins also presented a floral spray to Mrs. Newton. A programme of songs and duets was presented by Mrs. A. Irwin, Mrs. H. Moses and Mrs. P. Collieoat, and instrumental selections by Miss Daphne Higham (violin), Miss Betty Fenton ('cello) and Miss Adela Knight (piano), the latter also playing the accompaniments for the eingers. The thanks of the guild members was conveyed by the Rev. Percy Knight to Lady Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Newton and those who contributed to the programme. The stall-holders were: —Sweets, Mrs. E. McLacliland and Mrs. D. Grant; jams and pickles, Mrs. A. Bleakley and Mrs. L. Hopkins; cakes, Mrs. George Smith, Mrs. Whittaker, Mrs. E. E. Pierce and Mrs. L. Forster; afternoon tea, Mrs. R. D. Owen, Mrs. A. Beer, Mrs. L. Davidson, Mrs. C. Noble, Mrs. Peter Grant, Mrs. J. McLanachan, Mrs. R. Wode and Miss Skudder.
