SCOTT-HEATLEY The wedding was celebrated yesterday morning at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Balmoral, of Miss Elva May Heatley, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Heatley, Wentworth House, Dawson Street, New Plymouth, to Mr. Donald John McDonald Scott, only son of Inspector Donald Scott and Mrs. Scott, Grange Road, Mount Eden. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father N. von Hotter, Mrs. P. Franchi being the organist. Both the bridegroom and his father are very well known in Scottish circles throughout the Dominion as pipers and Highland dancers. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Charles Heatley, of New Plymouth, wore a lovely gown of parchment satin, fashioned on slender lines, the skirt falling from a centre panel at the back to form a Bhort train. The hemline and the train were finished all round with small scallops, the skirt being cut with a centre panel in front from a pointed waistline. A spray of orange blossom caught the V-neekline on each side, and the long sleeves were pleated at the shoulders, and close-fitting from elbow to wrist, where they ended in a peak over the hand. Her veil of parchment tulle, which was worn over the face on entering the church, was apphqued with satin flowers and fell to form a slight train from a halo of orange blossom buds. She carried a sheaf of Belladonna lilies, cactus dahlias and rosebuds. The bridesmaid was Miss Sally G,reen, who wore a frock of pastel blue embossed cloque, cut on slender lines, the skirt being finely pleated at intervals. The bodice was fashioned with a double scalloped collar and finished with buttons from the neck to the waistline. She wore a silver halo finished with small velvet flowers in shades of pink and blue, and her cascade bouquet was of pink Belladonna lilies and cactus dahlias and blue delphiniums. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. William Pender as best man, and Mr. Neil Lett, of Austinmere, New South Wales, cousin of the bridegroom, was the usher. A reception was afterward held in the Zealandia Hall, Balmoral, where goldenrod and zinnias had been artistically used to decorate the reception hall. Mrs. Heatley received her guests wearing a frock of wine satin backed crepe with a lace redingote in the same shade. She wore a hat to tone and her posy was of autumn-shaded flowers. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Scott, was wearing a frock of black crepe de chine with long sleeves shirred at the wrist, and a yoke appliqued with white flowers. Her hat was of black shiny straw, finished in front with three white gardenias, and she carried a posy of pink begonias and fern. During the reception e-Major Dugald Matheson, late Cameron Highlanders, played the " Highland Wed:ng " on the pipes. The cake was later cut with a Highland dirk. CASSELS-BROWN—THORNTON St. Paul's Church, Svmonds Street, was the scene of a charming wedding on Tuesday evening when Miss Dorothea Gertrude Thornton, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Thornton, of Balmoral, was married to Mr. Eric Warner Cassels-Brown, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Cassels-Brown, of Mangere. The Rev. Canon C. A. B. Watson performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory satin, with a lace yoke, and long, tightfitting sleeves. The frock was moulded over the hips in Empire style with unusual horizontal tucks. A billowy tulle veil attached to the head by a halo of satin and orange blossom, fell over the long satin train, and the bride carried a sheaf of Easter lilies. Her sister. Miss Zena Thornton, and Miss Olive Brash were bridesmaids and wore charming frocks of mauve georgette and taffetas with violet taffetas flowers appliqued on the full swing skirts and puffed sleeves.
