COLLECTION OF RATES
PAPATOETOE IMPROVEMENT , The payment of over 87 per cent of the current year's rates prior to the penalty date was reported last night at the meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board. The clerk, Mr. \V. Young, stated that £7060 had been collected out of the £BIO2 levied. If the total levied was reduced bv the total rates on properties known to have reverted to the State Advances Department, added Mr. Young, the percentage collected would be about 90. The arrears of rates collected totalled £797. The chairman. Mr. W. J. Nicholson, said the response bv ratepayers was very satisfactory. The percentage collected was higher than last year.
