COSTUME FOR DRILL
A letter regarding the practice introduced at the Epsom Girls' Grammar School of discarding tunics at drill was received yesterday at a meeting of the Auckland Grammar School Board of Governors from the diocesan secretary of the Girls' Friendly Society. The letter had been forwarded to the headmistress of the school, Miss A. L. Loudon, by the secretary, Mr. C. E. G. Tisdall, and in her reply Miss Loudon said that in the third term of last year she had first permitted the girls to drill without their tunics. The girls drilled in the privacy of tho school and there was no immodesty or compulsion in. the practice. It had been first allowed as a part of the effort to obtain correct posture among the pupils. The board decided to forward a copy of the letter to the Girls' Friendly Society secretary.
