RUGBY FOOTBALLER'S DEATH VERDICT OF THE CORONER [BY TELEGRArn —OWN DUNEDIN, "Wednesday A verdict that deceased died as a result of injuries caused through being crushed by a truck ho was driving when it accidentally capsized at Mikiwaka on January 29 was returned by the coroner, Mr. J. R. Bartholomew, at an inquest to-day into the death of Mr. Edmund Eugene Murphy, aged 26. Mr. Murphy was driving a Defence Department lorry along the narrow road between Waitati and Port Chalmers during military manoeuvres when it skidded in loose gravel and capsized, the driver receiving extensive injuries, which proved fatal. Mr. Murphy had decided to enter the Police Force, and his application had, it is understood, been favourably considered. He was a well-known Rugby footballer, and for the last five seasons had represented Otago.
