CRICKET SEASON

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP PONSONBY TO PLAY PARNELL f 1 ' EDEN'S RISKY EXPERIMENT f Keen interest should centre in the series of senior championship games - to be played under the control of the Auckland Cricket Association to-mor- ...... row. The principal fixture on No. 2" wicket at Eden Park will be the meeting of Ponsonby and Parnell. Neither side has done itself justice this season, but Parnell's record is more impressive. Parnell should have the .greater batting strength, but there is little to choose between the teams as regards bowling talent. King's Old Boys, which secured its first victory of the season in the last series of * games, will oppose Grafton on No. I—■? wicket. Grafton, with its all-round strength, . . should have an advantage, although King's is capable of a surprise. The improving Y.M.C.A. eleven will engage 'University on No. 3 wicket, and a close and interesting contest should result. Anything is liable to happen at Devonport, where both Eden, the leading team,. . v and North Shore will play three men short, to-morrow. Both teams have several players in the Auckland representative team ai "" present in Wellington, and the clubs have mutually agreed to leave places so that the absent players will be able to take part in the second day's play of the series'. ■ Eden appears .to be taking somewhat ol ' K a risk in playing short, especially in view of the fact that conditions are likely to be tricky to-morrow. An outright victory ' to North Shore would place it equal in tho lead with Eden. Lower grade competitions will be conj tinued. Following are tho teams:— UNIVERSITY First Grade.—Bell, Boaden, Bush, Butler. Cooper, Crammond. Garraid, Jackman, Lange. . Winter, Schnauer.
