MISSION BAY DOMAIN QUESTION OF PARKING FEES TO BE CONTINUED The lifting of parking fees in Selwvn Domain, Mission Bay, was again considered by the City Council last night •when the Parks Committee, which twice previously had been asked to reconsider the question, again recommended that the charge be abolished. It was reported that a deputation of Mission Bay shopkeepers which had attended a meeting of the committee had stated that the charge was seriously affecting their businesses as motorists were not patronising the domain. It was reported that 3356 cars had used the park since the institution of the parking fee. In November £l6 18s 6d was collected from 527 motorists; in December 1108 cars yielded £27 14s; and in January the return was £43 Os 6d from 1721 cars; making a total collection of £B7 13s. Mr. J. S. Stewart, who recorded his dissenting opinion from the recommendation of the committee, moved an amendment that no action should be taken and that the charge should stand, as it had not been given a fair trial. The amendment was carried.
