TENNIS STATUS
NOTED FRENCHMAN JEAN BOROTRA'S PRIZE BREACH QUESTION RAISED By Tclefftviph—Press Association—Copyright {Received February 11, \T.3O p„m.) ; PittJS, F»b. 11 I "Vhc araaiefe- stotv- o* -thexlQtcd ! French tennis player Jean fiorotra has been called into question owing to his acceptance of the Prix Douine, the chief annual prize of the Academy of Sport, worth 30,000 francs. Borotra handed the prize as a gift to the French Lawn Tennis Federation, but the sporting paper L'Auto points out that a resolution of the Olympic Committee deprives amateurs of their status if they accept such prizes. Jean Borotra since 1921 has been a dominant figure in French lawn tennis and for many years has been a Davis Cup player. Following a ski-ing accident recently doubts were expressed concerning his future ability to play.
