Bad Auckland Roads
IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED The rough and potholed state of roads in the vicinity of Auckland has been engaging the attention of the Automobile Association (Auckland), and representations have been made to the respective authorities responsible for their maintenance, requesting their cooperation in providing more agreeable motoring conditions. A route which has been carrying _an increasing amount of holiday motoring traffic in addition to local traffic, and which has been the subject of particular mention, is tbe connection on the outskirts of the Takapuna borough with the No. 1 State highway leading to the North Auckland districts. Similarly unpleasant travelling conditions have been reported on a portion of the Northcote borough road between Northcote itself and Takapuna. Houtes to the West Coast still give cause for dissatisfaction, and the recently declared main highway from Titirangi to Huia has been the subject of many complaiuts. This road also gives access to Whatipu, a West Coast resort lately provided with an all-weather connection.
